The Rivy Story

A few years ago I was at my oldest son's pre-k graduation. At the time, I was nursing my daughter who was only a few months old. It had been a while since I had nursed a baby out in public being that my son and daughter were several years apart and we hadn't done very many real outings since my daughter had been born. During the ceremony my daughter started to get fussy, so I pulled out my nursing cover to feed her and that's when I realized my mistake- that day I chose to wear a high neck bodysuit with not a whole lot of stretch to it. It was impossible to nurse my daughter without having to undo the snaps at the crotch and pull the whole thing up (of course I did it, but it was a tad awkward). After that incident, I decided I needed to adjust my wardrobe to be more nursing-friendly. When I got home that day I went online to do some shopping and after looking around for a little bit I gave up. There were very few options out there and nothing truly caught my eye. Halfway joking, I thought to myself "I'll just make my own clothes". I sat on that thought for weeks before I spoke it out loud to someone for the first time.

And from that conversation- Rivy was born.

Our Mission

It is no secret that moms, especially nursing moms, are not prioritized like they should be in today's society. One thing they should not have to worry about is their clothing. Nursing moms should not have to base their entire wardrobe around how far they can pull the neckline of their shirt down or what they can layer with a tank top to avoid exposing parts of them they may not want to share with the world. They should not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a wardrobe that they no longer have a use for once their breastfeeding journeys come to an end. Moms need better. Moms deserve better.

The goal of The Rivy Collective is to curate and provide quality nursing-friendly clothing that moms actually want to wear. Rivy combines style, functionality and discreetness to create pieces to help carry you through your breastfeeding journey, and even beyond.
